Andrei Svechnikov ecstatic after signing 8-year deal worth $62M with Hurricanes

“A hurricane for 8 more years!!! How great is that?!,” Andrei Svechnikov said after signing his new contract. “[I] owe big time to my family, the Caniacs, my teammates and coaches!”

The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms Thursday with the restricted free agent forward on an eight-year, $62 million extension through the 2028-29 season.

“Andrei is one of the cornerstones of this organization, and we are thrilled to reach a long-term commitment to keep him here,” Carolina president and general manager Don Waddell said in a news release.
