After years of goaltending inconsistency, who would have thought the New York Islanders would finally have a goalie controversy?

Coming off of their best season since 1983, the New York Islanders looked ready to take the next step into the NHL’s elite. A major reason for their success was due to the goaltending of Jaroslav Halak. With a history of a revolving door for goalies, Halak seemed to be the stability the Islanders have been searching for in net since pre-injury Rick DiPietro. Just over a year into his Islanders career, no one envisioned a goaltender controversy.
