The 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships gets underway this weekend in Helsinki, Finland. Coming off a quarterfinal exit in last year’s tournament, Team USA gets things started against their Canadian rivals to the north this Saturday. Here’s everything you need to know to get ready to cheer on Team USA.
Forwards
The Americans have a forward corps capable of putting up some big numbers. Consensus number one overall 2016 NHL draft pick Auston Matthews (pictured above) makes his second World Junior appearance and will wear an “A” for Team USA. The 6-foot-2 Arizona native is in the middle of a solid season in Switzerland with 14 goals and 11 assists in 22 games.
