Center Auston Matthews leads the way Friday into what should be a historic 2016 NHL draft at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.
Matthews and other top prospects are just the beginning of the storylines to know surrounding the event. The Toronto Maple Leafs clutch the first pick in the draft for the first time since 1985 and are one of two teams with a record-breaking 11 picks to spend, sharing the honor with the hosts, the Buffalo Sabres.
The Maple Leafs and Sabres aren't the only teams who will be quite busy Friday and beyond, though, with the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Arizona Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes also clutching multiple first-round selections.
