With QB situation already in flux, New York Jets place LT Ryan Clady on injured reserve

Before D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement, the Jets hadn't known a world without their left tackle starting every game for 10 years. Ryan Clady, his replacement, lasted just nine games.

Clady has been officially placed on injured reserve, per the team on Wednesday. Clady missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL, and has struggled to remain healthy over the duration of his career, only starting two games before a season-ending Lisfranc injury in 2013. He did play all 16 games in 2014, reaching the Pro Bowl for the fourth time.

Meanwhile, the team will receive a boost from the activation of wideout Devin Smith from the physically-unable-to-perform list.
