The Eagles and Rams decision to trade up to the top of the draft to take a quarterback makes sense but it is ultimately the wrong decision
The No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks in the NFL draft both getting traded away in the same year is virtually unprecedented. The Rams traded away two first rounders, two second rounders, and two third rounders to the Titans for the top overall pick plus additional fourth and sixth round picks; the Eagles traded away two first rounders, a second rounder, a third rounder, and two 4th rounders for the second overall pick.
