With injuries mounting during the NFL preseason, teams are trying to navigate their way to Week 1 of the regular season with their players healthy and sufficiently prepared. The 2011 Collective Bargaining Agreement has limited the offseason workouts, which some teams blame for the increased injuries during training camp. Some teams choose to rest their stars in the preseason, which appears to be the only near-perfect solution to get them there healthy. But then are they prepared for the long season ahead?
The majority of these season-ending injuries are in the lower extremities – torn ACLs, ruptured Achilles' tendons or foot/leg -- that could be the result, in part, of poor footwear.
