Shane Vereen will have season-ending surgery on his injured triceps today, and will be placed on injured reserve. A frequent target on passing plays, Vereen was also the team's leading rusher despite two high-profile fumbles in the first three weeks. Rashad Jennings is expected to be the team's main back in Vereen's absence, backed up by the superbly monickered Orleans Darkwa.
On defense, cornerbacks Eli Apple and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie both left the team's home defeat against Washington with injuries. Apple's injury is a hamstring strain, which is likely to keep him sidelined for at least a week or two, while Rodgers-Cromartie suffered a groin strain.
