Week 16 Injury Aftermath

The Patriots fans who claimed at the start of the season that all would be fine if they could just keep Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski healthy are seeing that theory sorely tested. Sebastian Vollmer became the latest victim of New England's injury blight, as the right tackle-turned-left tackle suffered an ankle sprain -- believed to be a high ankle sprain -- which will at the very least keep him out of Week 17. The Patriots have clinched a playoff bye, so there is a chance that Vollmer will be available for their next major game, but anything other than a minor sprain may keep Vollmer out until a potential Super Bowl: a Grade II high ankle sprain carries a usual absence of two to four weeks.
