Washington won't change name in exchange for new stadium

It’s been something that has cause controversy in the nation’s capital for years. No matter what side you are on, the debate has continued to rage on …

Why did Washington’s NFL team leave RFK Stadium? The old facility in the eastern part of the city was home for many of the team’s glory years, including three Super Bowl titles in a ten season period from 1982 to 1991. Since moving to the suburbs of Maryland in 1997, the team has made the playoffs just three times.

The movement for getting the team back to the big city is being threatened by the growing calls for them to change the team’s nickname, considered by many to be offensive.
