Vikings waive WR Kain Colter

The Vikings waived two players on Monday, including first-year wide receiver Kain Colter, the club said.

Colter (6-0, 195) signed with Minnesota as an undrafted free agent last May. He spent the preseason with the club, was waived, then re-signed to the practice squad for the regular season. The Vikings signed him to the offseason roster in December.

After his collegiate career ended, Colter helped lead a push for Northwestern football players to unionize. In March 2014, the National Relations Labor Board ruled football players were Northwestern employees and could vote to organize.
