Unsurprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked up the $25.7 million fifth-year option for quarterback Trevor Lawrence on Saturday, general manager Trent Baalke said, per ProFootballTalk's Charean Williams.
He's now under contract through the 2025 season.
Jacksonville also picked up the $6.1 million fifth-year option for running back Travis Etienne, Baalke said.
The Jaguars were always expected to pick up the option for the 2021 first-round pick, even if it's fair to argue he's yet to live up to the lofty expectations that accompanied his selection. He struggled as a rookie, throwing for 3,641 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while taking 58 sacks and completing just 59.
