In his first public comments since breaking a bone in his back and losing his starting job to Dak Prescott, Tony Romo, in a five-minute prepared statement, vowed not to be a distraction while "something magical" is happening with the 8-1 Cowboys under the guidance of Prescott.

"He has earned the right to be our quarterback," Romo said of Prescott, the Cowboys' fourth-round rookie and NFL's fourth-highest rated passer (106.2). "As hard as that is to say, he's earned it."

A heart felt and self-reflective Romo said the fire within him burns now more than ever, after enduring a "soul-crushing" injury that left him "in the darkest place" in his life and, he said, let down his team and fans.
