Tom Brady appeared before the Boston media on Tuesday, addressing his left thumb which was injured in a scissor accident before the Patriots’ preseason game on Thursday against the Bears.
Brady called the mishap “just a silly accident.”
“I was just trying to get something out of my shoe and the scissors slipped,” Brady told reporters. “I let out a probably pretty loud word I wouldn’t repeat in front of my kids. Couldn’t believe it. And then I went and got it checked out.”
Barry Alley, a photographer from CSN New England, captured Brady as he lifted the thumb during the press conference, showing the scab from his wound:

The veteran signalcaller added that his absence at team practice the past two days was because he “just had to take care of something,” and that he would have tried to play through the injury if it had occurred during the regular season.
