Tom Brady made $170,000 for his lone remarks since Wells Report

Well, it certainly beats being burned at the stake.

But Patriots quarterback Tom Brady got a warm welcome from Salem State University, making a cool $170,000 for his speaking appearance there the night after the Wells Report dropped. It still stands as his only public remarks about #DeflateGate heading into next week’s appeal.

According to Bob Hohler of the Boston Globe, the university’s nonprofit Salem State University Foundation paid the money, and that no public funds were used toward the event.

School president Patricia Maguire Meservey declined numerous questions about the amount, and the first two public records requests by the Globe, before their third one was fulfilled.
