Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has been around the game for a long time, so he didn’t need anyone to tell him what was going on when he announced that the team was selecting Shaq Thompson with their first round pick last month.
Thompson is an athletic linebacker who the team sees as a starter and every down player, which is exactly what Davis has been for the team when he’s been healthy during his career. Davis said he’s “not naive,” so he knows “that there’s going to come a day where Shaq takes over the reins.
