This Is the Greatest N.F.L. Rookie Class Since ...

By the end of the season, Kareem Hunt will hold the N.F.L.’s rushing record. Dubious? He’s already the league’s best running back.

Right?

The annual foray into breathless Week 1 conclusions commenced Thursday night, when Hunt slashed and dashed for 246 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in (future Super Bowl champion) Kansas City’s 42-27 victory against the (doomed) New England Patriots.

No one had ever compiled more total yards in his first N.F.L. game, and according to Pro Football Reference, no one in the last 36 years had rushed for more in his debut than Hunt’s 148.
