NFL Draft - The groundwork for today's NFL was laid in 2017, when the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes. In a draft that was supposed to be light on quarterback talent, the Chiefs found the premier passer of this generation.
Going into that draft, the most accomplished quarterback prospect was Clemson's Deshaun Watson, and even he had struggled with turnovers in college. The other signal-callers available, including Mahomes, carried their own red flags that left many observers concerned. Many draftniks—including Dan Kadar of SBNation and Justis Mosqueda of Bleacher Report—did not least a single quarterback among their top-10 draft prospects.
