Tennessee Titans fire special teams coordinator Bobby April

Mike Mularkey's Titans fired longtime special teams coordinator Bobby April Monday, one day after April's punt coverage unit ceded a game-winning touchdown to Texans rookie Will Fuller, and promoted Steve Hoffman, formerly special teams assistant.

The Titans are 31st in kickoff coverage and 27th in defending punt returns this season. April has 12 years of NFL experience as a special teams coordnator including stops with the Jets, Raiders, Eagles, Bills and Rams.

Mularkey's offense ranks 31st in scoring and 25th in passing. Rookie GM Jon Robinson removed the interim tag this offseason from Mularkey, who's 19-42 as a head coach and went 2-7 down the stretch in 2015 after Ken Whisenhunt's removal.
