The New Orleans Saints restructured the contract of do-it-all offensive weapon Taysom Hill on Thursday to create additional salary-cap space for the 2024 season.
According to NOLA.com's Luke Johnson, the Saints converted nearly $9 million of Hill's base salary into a signing bonus, bringing down his 2024 cap number from $15.8 million to $9.2 million.
By saving about $6.6 million, the Saints are now around $12 million under the cap for the upcoming season.
That type of move comes with future consequences, though, as Hill's cap hit will grow to $18 million in 2025, and the Saints are now projected to be $88 million over the salary cap in 2025, per OverTheCap.
