The Houston Texas have released safety Stevie Brown on Friday, according to ESPN's Tania Ganguli.
Ganguli noted, per a source, that Brown wasn't likely to make the Texans roster, so this gives him a head start to find a new team before the season starts.
Brown, who turned down a contract offer by the New York Giants, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, signed with the Texans at the end of April.
Entering his sixth season in the NFL, Brown spent the past three years with the Giants where a torn ACL in 2013 held the safety back from becoming the team's premier defender.
