Steelers waive Devin Gardner

In order to add kicker Garrett Hartley, the Steelers had to create a spot on the 90-man roster. They’ve done that be waiving rookie receiver/quarterback Devin Gardner.

The Michigan product, who previously spent time in the offseason with the Patriots, has been waived with the “injured” designation. If he clears waivers, Gardner will revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hartley edged out kicker Jay Feely for the vacancy created by Shaun Suisham’s torn ACL during a training-camp Gong Show tryout. Hartley and Feely made all kicks with the exception of one; they both missed from 53 yards out.
