Undrafted last month, former Michigan quarterback turned potential NFL receiver Devin Gardner eventually landed with the Patriots as a free agent. He didn’t last long in New England.
The Steelers claimed Gardner on waivers, and in recent days the former quarterback has been playing quarterback again.
Via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers have moved Gardner back to quarterback for the last two practices.
“We’re just turning over the stones,” coach Mike Tomlin said.
If the Steelers like what they see under the Gardner-as-quarterback-again stone, he could be groomed to serve as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger.
