N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell said two stadium projects looked promising enough to lead to the league’s return to the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the nation’s second-largest. Goodell told the Associated Press Sports Editors group in New York that he thought the projects, in Inglewood and Carson, had a “great deal of potential to be successful.” He said the deadline for franchises to apply to move to Los Angeles, currently in early January, could be moved up.
