Sports Briefing | Pro Football: Jets’ General Manager Fires Scouts

General Manager Mike Maccagnan continued his revamping of the Jets’ scouting department, firing five college scouts and Brandon Prophett, who had been the team’s pro personnel director for nine seasons and been with the organization since 2000. Four of the scouts were hired by Maccagnan’s predecessor, John Idzik, and the other had been with the Jets since 2006.

u25a0 The Dallas Cowboys are not picking up the fifth-year option of Morris Claiborne’s rookie contract, making Claiborne, an injury-plagued cornerback who was the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft, eligible for free agency after the 2015 season.
