East Carolina fired Coach Ruffin McNeill after six seasons, with Athletic Director Jeff Compher saying the program “was not meeting competitive expectations.” The Pirates went 5-7 this season — their first losing season since 2011 — and were fifth in the American Athletic Conference’s East Division with a 3-5 record. East Carolina went 10-3 in 2013, then spent five weeks in the Top 25 in 2014, and McNeill had a 42-34 overall record.
