Sheldon Richardson leaves Jets down two defensive linemen at OTAs

The absence of defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson from Jets organized team activities this week came as no surprise since he’s been absent for all of the team’s offseason work as he tries to leverage his way into a long-term contract with the team.

Less expected was the absence of Wilkerson’s counterpart at defensive end Sheldon Richardson, who coach Todd Bowles confirmed has not been practicing with the team this week. Bowles said that Richardson has been with the team “half the time” during the voluntary workouts that moved into their third phase with the start of OTAs.
