The question of whether the Chargers will stay in San Diego hinges on the question of whether the City can successfully finagle a successful public vote quickly, since the Chargers will have no choice but to squat on a spot in the L.A. market if their future can’t be secured in their current location by then.
The deeper questions are: (1) whether the Chargers actually want to stay; and (2) whether the City actually wants to solve the stadium situation.
There’s a chance that it’s neither, and that both sides are looking for a way to blame the other side.
