After New England Patriots owner Robert K. Kraft was charged in February with soliciting prostitution, some of the many charities that he has supported wrestled with what to do.
Some issued statements of disappointment, while others said they would no longer accept his donations.
But the legal cloud hanging over Kraft — a judge dismissed the charges because the police bungled the case, though that decision may be appealed — apparently does not extend to Israel, where Kraft is a frequent visitor and philanthropist.
On Thursday in Jerusalem, Kraft, 78, was awarded the Genesis Prize, which has been called “the Jewish Nobel,” for his “outstanding professional achievement, contribution to humanity, and commitment to Jewish values.
