Did the Houston Texans do Brian Hoyer a favor by setting him free prior to the 2016 NFL Draft?
Although general manager Rick Smith was unable to find a trade partner for Hoyer after signing Brock Osweiler in March, he believes he could have extracted a modicum of value out of the journeyman quarterback had he held off on the release through next weekend.
"I think I probably could have gotten a pick, honestly," Smith said, via the Houston Chronicle. "In fairness to him, we just thought, and this was an organizational decision, we have multiple conversations about it.
