The Atlanta Falcons have added another name in the mix to back up starting quarterback Matt Ryan, signing Rex Grossman to a one-year deal Wednesday, per Pro Football Talk on Twitter. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com also reported the signing.
According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN, the deal is worth $1 million, the minimum. The Falcons waived Evan Royster to make room for Grossman, per McClure.
With T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree struggling behind Ryan during training camp, Grossman immediately becomes the favorite to win the backup gig.
