Back in December, the San Francisco 49ers released defensive tackle Ray McDonald after it became public he was being investigated for sexual assault. That news came mere months after McDonald was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
While the 30-year old McDonald hasn’t been charged in either incident, and the NFL eventually cleared him in the domestic violence case, it was enough for San Francisco to move on.
Desperate for help on the defensive line, the Chicago Bears signed McDonald earlier this offseason. It was a low-risk, high-reward signing.
After just a couple months, McDonald’s future with the Bears is up in the air.
