Even if quarterback Philip Rivers wants to move on from the Chargers, the Chargers don’t want to move on from him. Yet.
According to Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego, the Chargers have informed Rivers that he won’t be traded. Acee adds that talks on a contract extension are ongoing.
This entire ordeal began when Rivers told Acee on March 17 — four days after the Steelers gave quarterback Ben Roethlisberger a gigantic new deal — that Rivers wasn’t inclined to sign a new contract with the Chargers until his current deal expires at the end of the 2015 season.
