It’s been a strange week for the Rams and sixth-round receiver Bud Sasser.
Deemed unable to pass a physical due to a heart condition, the Rams had signed Sasser to a contract, paid him a signing bonus in excess of $113,000, placed him on waivers, and sent him to the season-ending non-football illness list after he went unclaimed. As of Sunday, the Rams intended to keep Sasser on NFI but not to pay him a salary in 2015.
By Monday, the Rams reversed course and waived Sasser from the NFI list, according to Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange.
