The Oakland Raiders’ potential relocation to Las Vegas took an important step on Tuesday.

According to Jeff Gillan of News3 in Las Vegas, the Nevada state senate voted and passed a stadium deal at a 16-5 count. The voting occurred in what was the second day of a special session at the Nevada State Capitol.

Ian Cull of NBC Bay Area noted the stadium deal needs to be passed by the Assembly, which will reconvene on Thursday, after being approved by the senate.

Supporters for the deal spoke on Monday and stressed that the use of tax dollars to fund the stadium would ultimately bolster the Nevada economy.
