The Panthers will have a new face at cornerback when they start minicamp on Tuesday.
The team announced Monday that they have signed former Lion and Falcon Chris Houston as a free agent. They waived cornerback Jocquel Skinner to make room on the roster for Houston.
Houston was released by the Lions around this time last year amid concerns that he wouldn’t recover well enough from toe surgery to resume his playing career. He sat out the entire season after getting dropped in Detroit, so it’s been a while since anyone’s seen Houston on the field.
When he was last on the field, Houston was a solid player and regular starter for the Lions and Falcons.
