Panthers cornerback Josh Norman ready to see flag removed

The Panthers have quietly supported their neighbors in the wake of the Charleston church shootings, but one of their players who has spent his entire life in the Carolinas has offered their strongest political stance yet.

Cornerback Josh Norman, who grew up in Greenwood, S.C. and played at Coastal Carolina, said the Confederate flag has been a symbol of the state for too long.

Via the Charlotte Observer, Norman said that growing up, he was used to seeing the flag “flapping in the wind in the back of the truck beds and [on] bumper stickers.
