Packers announce Jordy Nelson will miss the season

As expected, the 2015 football season of Packers receiver Jordy Nelson has ended before the regular season even began.

The team has announced that Nelson sustained “a significant right knee injury” during Sunday’s preseason game at Pittsburgh, and that he’ll miss the entire season. While the press release from the team didn’t specify the type of knee injury, it’s reportedly a torn ACL.

Twenty years ago, former Steelers defensive back Rod Woodson sustained a torn ACL in Pittsburgh on the first Sunday of the regular season, in a game against the Lions. He had surgery, underwent rehab, and returned to play in Super Bowl XXX, an eventual loss to the Cowboys.
