O.J. Simpson's longtime lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne, said this week that he will fight to prevent the families of Nicole Brown-Simpson and Ron Goldman from collecting a $33.5 million judgment from Simpson's estate.
Simpson's family announced Wednesday that he died at age 76 after suffering from cancer. Simpson's will names LaVergne as the executor, per the Associated Press.
In 1994, Simpson was charged with the murders of Brown-Simpson, who was his ex-wife, and Goldman in Los Angeles.
Simpson was controversially acquitted of the charges in a criminal trial in 1995, but the Brown-Simpson and Goldman families subsequently filed a civil lawsuit.
