The 452nd passing touchdown of Drew Brees’ career appeared to secure an unlikely win for the New Orleans Saints over the Denver Broncos, but a blocked extra point turned into two points and a shocking 25-23 victory for the Broncos.
It was a game of wild momentum changes, with the Broncos scoring the first 10 points, the Saints scoring the next 17, and then the teams trading points back and forth. But after Brees, who earlier in the game had become just the third player to have 450 passing career touchdowns, found Brandin Cooks for a 32-yard touchdown with 1:22 remaining it looked like New Orleans had taken care of business at home.
