N.F.L. Says Stymied Investigation Led to One-Game Ban for Josh Brown

In the wake of the 2015 domestic violence arrest of Giants kicker Josh Brown, which led to a one-game suspension by the N.F.L., the league was aware that Brown’s wife at the time told the police that Brown had become physically violent with her on numerous other occasions.

The N.F.L. then conducted a 10-month investigation, but on Friday it said that Brown’s wife and law enforcement officials had not cooperated in the investigation. The charges against Brown were then dropped, and the league felt it had insufficient evidence to suspend Brown for more than one game.
