The Denver Broncos reportedly made Patrick Surtain II the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history on Wednesday.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Surtain and the Broncos agreed to a four-year, $96 million contract extension with $77.5 million in guaranteed money.
Per Schefter, the deal makes Surtain the NFL's highest-paid cornerback annually at $24 million per year, surpassing Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers, who previously held the top spot with a $21 million AAV:
Surtain and the Broncos got the deal done just days before their 2024 season-opening road game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
