Preston Parker, the wide receiver who dropped several passes in the Giants’ first two games, was released by the team Tuesday. Just a few hours later, Victor Cruz, who has not played since early last season because of two leg injuries, was running in practice for the first time since mid-August.
The two events may not be related, since Cruz is still unlikely to be cleared for Thursday’s game against Washington, but together they signaled a drastic reconfiguring of the wide receiving corps.
Parker’s miscues had inhibited the offensive attack, which has especially struggled late in games — something that Coach Tom Coughlin made a point to mention when addressing the team Monday.
