The New York Jets claimed former Washington Commanders defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis off waivers, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
The Jets claimed him over several other playoff-bound teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans, all of whom could have benefited from his depth heading into the postseason.
New York also claimed former Vikings linebacker Jamin Davis while waiving kicker Anders Carlson and placing safety Chuck Clark on injured reserve.
