University of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. worked out Saturday at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in hopes of putting himself in the conversation to be a first-round draft pick.
USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and LSU's Jayden Daniels are widely considered to be the top three quarterbacks in the draft and could be the top three selections, but with all of them opting not to throw at the combine, it opened the door for Penix and others to shine.
Penix, who finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting last season after throwing for 4,903 yards, 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and leading the Huskies to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, was perhaps a major winner Saturday at the combine due to his measurables.
