NFL Week 7 - Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich has announced that Matt Ryan will be benched as starting quarterback. 2021 sixth-round selection Sam Ehlinger is set to take over the starting role in preparation for next week's game against the Washington Commanders.
The decision comes just one day after Indianapolis' 19-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans, where Ryan finished 33-for-44 with 243 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, and three sacks.
"Right now the move is for Sam to be the starter for the rest of the season," said Reich, via the Colts official website.
