After wearing a Minnesota Vikings jersey for the first five years of his NFL career, running back Matt Asiata has reportedly signed a deal with the Detroit Lions.
Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported that Asiata agreed to a one-year contract, and Justin Rogers of the Detroit News confirmed the signing.
Asiata was a versatile piece of the offensive puzzle in Minnesota after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He split time between running back and fullback, taking over as the Vikings' primary starter in 2014 after Adrian Peterson was placed on the commissioner's exempt list amid allegations of child abuse.
