Lions land Laken Tomlinson after trading down to 28

AP

The Lions have added two guards in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Detroit used its first-round pick on Duke guard Laken Tomlinson after trading down from the 23rd pick to the 28th pick. As part of that trade with the Broncos, the Lions also added veteran guard Manny Ramirez.

Now the Lions suddenly have depth at guard, a position that had previously been viewed as a question mark: Larry Warford will start at right guard, while Tomlinson and Ramirez compete to start at left guard. The Lions also added Denver’s fifth-round picks both this year and next year in that trade.
