Lions announce Jim Caldwell will remain head coach

Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell, who survived a front-office purge by the team's owner in November, will return for the 2016 season, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Following a promising 2014 campaign that saw the Lions make the playoffs for only the second time in 15 seasons, the Lions' 2015 season got off to a dismal 0-5 start. But wins over the Bears and Packers coupled with a change at offensive coordinator helped jumpstart a respectable 9-3 finish to the season that helped Caldwell save his job.
