Landry Jones doesn’t do much to earn No. 2 job

As expected, third-year quarterback Landry Jones threw every pass for the Steelers on Sunday night. It wasn’t a stellar start for the man who’s trying to prove that he can be a competent backup to starter Ben Roethlisbeger.

Jones completed 16 of 32 passes for 135 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Jones generated a passer rating of 61.3.

He led the Steelers to only one score in 11 drives, with an impressive 35-yard throw to Shakim Phillips (who made an even more impressive catch, beating first-round cornerback Trae Waynes) fueling a field goal, Pittsburgh’s only points of the night.
